When this small business was founded, the first question we asked was: Why are we doing this? What do we want to accomplish? What are we going to do better than the rest of the shops? The answer was that we needed to introduce something new. But most of all, break the Status Quo of the Terry cloth towel. We wanted people to know that The Turkish towel is not only for summer holidays but also good for home. And when we decided to expand to other products like the Throws, we wanted to provide excellent quality and versatility.
When we asked our customers what they expected from a Throw, they all said affordable quality, an item that remains in fashion, elegant, classic but modern.
Caught up in the moment.
We had some amazing five years at the Old Spitaflields Market in London and at St. Albans Street Market, so much that we were so caught up in being present in the public, we completely ignored the digital presence that we were supposed to take care of too.
I mean, yes we built a website and we opened an account on Instagram and Facebook but there was more to this that we had to discover and care for.
The pandemic came and suddenly we had to look at life from a completely different point of view. One that did not involve talking to customers face to face but rather than the screen to screen, email to email. The pandemic took a lot from us but here at Hamam Square, it gave us time to consider a change. To sit down and rethink why we do what we do.
But most of all, aim to rediscover our identity.
We always thought that we will be out in the markets, meeting people and explaining to them why we are in this textile business.
After a long time researching the market and listening to our customers, we found that there was a gap in the excellent quality of Turkish Towels. You could find them online on Ebay and Amazon but how can you be sure of the quality from afar? There was no real shop that you could actually go and find a nicely curated collection of Authentic Turkish Towels. That is how the idea of Hamam Square was born. Because we wanted to let everyone know what an amazing product it is and all the benefits that come with it. Yes, Turkish Towels are great for summer holidays but even more amazing for using at home!
Prevail our principles on sustainability over quick fashion.
Yes, a Throw can be a luxurious element of decor but more importantly our goal was still is to teach people to actually find other uses to it, sustainability and not quick fashion.
So when the decision was taken we knew exactly what we wanted to offer:

- Ethically handcrafted with respect to the tradition of Turkish weaving,
- Simple to care for and of course
- excellent quality of cotton.
Times have changed and Hamam Square is bringing you more household items that will be become staples to your home. Our famous hand towels and bathrobes are back to stay as permanent items of our collection. We aim for people to keep on coming back to us. To make sure they know where to get the best quality. This is why we do what we do!
